Art and creative expression have been the common threads holding meaning for me throughout my entire life. Prior to design, my background was in academic research. With a biology degree I spent my early career years studying salmon, animal welfare and songbird neurobiology, before eventually moving into the non-profit world...and subsequent burnout that had been years in the making.
Our Vancouver Island web design studio was born from my desire to help women have more agency in their business and career goals. Whether they own a brick and mortar retail shop and are wanting to move into e-commerce, or are a creative solopreneur savouring slow living and flowers from their backyard — the businesses we’ve worked with over the past 10+ years have one thing in common: they understand that design has an incredible impact on how their brand is perceived.
A conscious blend of storytelling and analytical strategy is where my own design aesthetic is rooted. We dive deep into your business essence, who you are and what led you to this point; through our dialed-in process that guides you in making intentional, data-backed design decisions. Crafting a brand full of meaning and understanding that not only brings your customers into the fold, but sparks excitement, clarity and momentum for you personally.
Your business thrives, when you do.
Even after years of experience one thing is always true: The internet evolves at a rapid pace. I consistently invest in my own skill set, keeping abreast of the latest platform developments and coding techniques. So not only do I get to geek out on pushing the creative boundaries, but your own brand has access to ways we can break the mold...together.
I’m an academic at heart. That’s why every creative choice has a reason, from SEO and UX, to colour psychology and website platforms that are the best fit for your brand. Think artistry meets analytics.
I’ve got a slight obsession with how design works, so I do it all. From custom CSS to Shopify's liquid code, to platform integrations like Klaviyo, we make it all sing together. I won't ever pass you off to an external developer, keeping things in-house with myself (and my Project Manager Gemma) means we manage all the details seamlessly for you from start to finish.
When We Work Together, You Get:
THE FUN STUFF
happy place 01
introverting and covered in dirt.
I’m the most content in the garden, dirt under my fingernails, cursing my fussy dahlias (and pestering all my floral branding clients with questions), dreaming of acreage and (even more) animals than we currently have...which are MANY.
books are my love language
I'm never without a book (or 3) on the go. Historical fiction, romantic fluff, dystopian YA, speculative lit...you name I’ve devoured it. Old books and botanical texts with original binding are TREASURES and so much of my design is inspired by them.
happy place 02: dancing. always.
Community and movement are my must-haves for mental health. It’s the biggest piece of advice I give to new entrepreneurs: make sure you have a full and vibrant life (IRL) OUTSIDE of your business. It fuels everything you do, and brings you the perspective you need to endure. And coffee and a group chat. You’ll need those too.
laughter & feminism
dismantling the patriarchy on every zoom call.
copy first. design needs something to say.
copywriters are to be protected at all costs.
the kids aren’t alright
education for neurodivergent kids needs a reframe.
